Download subscriptions are really critical to making the programming process easy. You can also enter your frequency data manually. With the right software you can download frequency data from the internet to your computer and then download into your scanner using this cable. I am KJ6ZWL and I know from experience that this is true. Being able to program your scanner using a spreadsheet style of user interface, albeit sometimes a bit primitive, can make your life so much easier. You will also need to purchase Programming software that only runs on Windows to program your scanner. No programming software is sold with this cable. Please check this listing’s photos for a close-up of the connector to ensure that this cable matches the physical characteristics of your scanners programming port before ordering this cable. You can also purchase my 20-546 cable but you will have to use the stereo to mono adapter that comes with that cable.
